CareerActivist.com follows stringent ethical guidelines. We understand that when you are reaching out for advice, you expect to be treated respectfully, honourably and confidentially. In order to ensure the integrity of our offerings, we abide by the following:
- Full Disclosure. We will always disclose any relationship with a source that use when it may compromise our objectivity.
- Respect for Copyright Laws. In order for us to provide the depth and breadth of information we are proud of supplying you with, we must feature material from a variety of sources. We will always adhere to national and regional copyright rules so that we do not plagiarize or inappropriately feature other people's content.
- Opt-In Communication. We will periodically ask for your permission to send you information that we believe will be genuinely helpful to you in your career-related pursuits. At no time other than occasional requests for your permission will we send you information without you having said o.k. in advance by opting in, like if you agree to receive our newsletter. And you can opt-out (remove yourself from receiving info) at any time, just by following our simple, clear directions.
- Trusted Links. We will never deliberately link to a website that is meant to deceive you, take money from you unfairly, or otherwise be considered a website that we wouldn't care to visit ourselves and feel comfortable with. We will also provide appropriate cautions when we think it is necessary to do so. For instance, some of the contextual advertisements that you find surrounding our content may have such gimmicky messages as "Earn $150 an hour working from your home." We cannot fully control such advertising as it may be provided via a third party such as Google Adsense. However you are wise to follow the old adage, "if is sounds to good to be true, it probably isn't real."
- Being Objective. We do not include content from just any old site or person, since we try to maintain a very high standard of editorial quality. So we are not, in essence, completely objective from this standpoint. However if you would like to include a relevant website or content that our search engines can retrieve, you are welcome to support your case to us in writing and we will gladly consider adding it to our list of content providers. We do retain the right to reject such requests at our sole, exclusive discretion.
- No Bribes Accepted. You may see advertising and contextual e-commerce links around some of our content. This is to help defray the costs of running our free portions of this site. However we will never let such commercial activity sway our editorial policy or keep us from offering you the best, most candid career-related content available across Canada.
